Yeah, we were having a wild time talking and eating the Mexican pastries my sister brought. There may have even been some tea and coffee being unabashedly consumed!
Of course, my children were up until that late too. I sent them to bed when I went to bed.
About 5 minutes after I crawled into bed, my husband's alarm went off for work. On the weekends he doesn't turn his alarm off because he gets some sort of sadistic pleasure of waking up and turning it off knowing he doesn't actually have to go to work. I think he needs to rethink it for this holiday week; he may forget come next Monday morning that he actually does have to go to work.
Anyway, his alarm going off reminded me of last summer when I wasn't directing my kids' bedtimes and he went out in the kitchen to head off to work at 4:30 am and the kids were still up. I remembered I used to be up until all hours of the night when I was in college: studying, partying, partying while studying. How things change... 10:00 pm is now past my bedtime.
My husband probably lasted until around 2:00am, but really if he was in the bedroom watching TV he probably fell asleep as soon as he laid down. He's like a Kewpie doll; you know, the kind of doll that closes its eyes when you lay it down. The moment he's horizontal, he's asleep; even when I'm talking to him (okay, stop laughing).
Even so, it was a nice wrap up to Christmas; although I'm feeling in need of a nap at the moment. So maybe that's a better wrap up to Christmas.
