Shoveling out

9/4/2010

This weekend we are cleaning out my 15-year old daughter's room.  Shoveling out is probably more like it.  She really just wants it to be done and I think she'd like it if I just did it.  But I remind her if I do it, she won't have anything left.  So she's plugging away at it.  I'm just waiting for her to get the shelves cleared off then we can decide if we are going to paint.

She told me she wants to paint the whole room.  We've gone from orange to green to cream to "I don't know."  She has so much stuff on her walls, I told her that perhaps we should clear the room and she can look at the pale blue walls with the clouds on them.  Maybe she'll decide she likes them since she hasn't actually seen them in so long.  I've accommodated her collecting and sculpting hobbies over the years by adding lots of shelving:  free-standing cubes covering one whole wall, little trinket shelves, shadow boxes.  All these shelves are covering her room.  I'm anxious to see what it looks like when they are all down and out of the room.

My daughter has informed me the shelves are cleared and get this, "she needs a sanity break!"  What exactly she needs a sanity break from is anyone's guess.

    Coffee with Gleigh

These are my morning musings.  Have a cup of coffee with me and we'll solve the problems of the world, or at least laugh at them until they make sense!
