Yesterday was my busiest day this week. I was busy from the moment I got my youngest on the bus to around 9:00pm last night. I had one reprieve when I had to call my mom and ask her to bring me my house keys so I could let myself back into the house to get my car keys. I guess I just got to rushing around so much I didn't have my head on straight. Anyway, thanks mom!
I have to admire parents who both work outside the home. I really don't get how they ever get anything done. My husband suggested to me I go get a "real" job a few years ago. I then had to spell out to him what his day would look like if I did that: He would always have to come home after work, no overtime, no wrecking yard side trips, no auto parts stores; he would have to start dinner, probably go grocery shopping, make his own appointments, coordinate after school activites and get the kids started on their homework. He hasn't mentioned it since.
I am attempting this school year to nail down a schedule so I can actually work and make money with my writing. But still life gets away from me and I have to put out fires or coordinate extraordinary events (like birthday parties, my mom needing assistance, doctors appointments, dentist appointments) times five, my family, me and my mom.
Speaking of birthday parties, my baby girl turned 14 years old yesterday. She's still in 8th grade, so I'm holding myself together and trying not to think about her being a freshman next year. Talk about a life getting away from me!
But my daughter will bring me back to reality when I have 8 screaming, squealing girls on sugar overload sleeping over tomorrow night. Better warn the neighbors!
