Today is laundry day and I can smell autumn in the air which only means one thing to me today... how much longer will I be able to hang my laundry out on the line?
I love hanging laundry out and it will certainly be hot enough this week to hang it out. I'm starting in on my fall schedule and not hanging everything out, only those things I normally have to hang up.
It makes me sad when it's time to bring the laundry back inside. The hardest part is when it's in between times when it's not hot enough, or in the near future the days aren't long enough, to hang outside. If it's not hot enough to hang outside, but not cold enough to have the heat on in the house the laundry takes forever to dry no matter where I hang it.
In the days before I installed clothes lines on my patio, I used to use drying racks. I would chase the sun around the yard long into the fall weather and then would still have to bring the clothes inside.
Ultimately, this all means it will be dark soon. Dark in the morning and dark at night. Dark when nobody should be out of bed and moving around.
But it's still light and still hot and the days are just long enough and now I have clothes to hang.
