I was really tired yesterday. We went to Whidbey Island to my husband's parents' house. We didn't know what to get my father-in-law for his birthday, so I made lunch and brought it. My youngest daughter made a cake. It turned out to be the best present we could've brought, but I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, my father-in-law or my mother-in-law.
I was tired because I didn't sleep well the night before. I think whenever I have to coordinate something the next day like I did, I coordinate in my head all night long. I made a cranberry turkey ring for lunch and I made the insides the day before. But I had to put it together and bake it, figure out how to keep it warm, and how to transport it. We had to be there by 12:30, eat lunch, then we went off to the Nutcracker put on by the Whidbey Island Dance Theater. It's become a Christmas tradition my kids especially look forward to. I also had to make sure my family got ready and out the door on time. Yes, I even have to remind my husband to shower and get ready; my rushing around like a crazy lady isn't clue enough, I guess.
I'm really looking forward to Christmas, being with family, quiet, enjoying each others company and sleeping in. Plus, my husband is home for a week too and he usually makes me breakfast every morning. That's when I know I've really made it!
