My husband is over 50, but I didn't grow up with him and in fact we didn't meet until he was 35, so I have no point of reference for him. Unfortunately, in his family with all his cousins, he was one of the two youngest, so when my 30th birthday came, it had already come and gone for him and his cousins and I got no sympathy at all. So when my 40th birthday came I just remained quiet.
Happy birthday to Les Paul. The google sign in is a really cool tribute to him. It has a guitar on it you can play. Les Paul was a jazz guitarist and it would have been his 96th birthday. He died in 2009.
This reminds me of how my mom always figures out how old people would be if they were still alive. For instance my great-grandmother would be 110 or something if she were still alive. It makes me laugh because I think "Why would they be alive still?" It's a weird concept to me to even think "if they were still alive." It's a bit different for someone who could still be alive, like if they died young or something. But to be an age that most humans don't make it to doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, it makes me laugh.... if great-great-great uncle Harry were still alive today he'd be 256 years old! HA!
I also want to give a Happy Birthday shout out to my cousin's daughter, Janelle. She's 24 today. It blows my mind that I could be her mother. I didn't have my first child until I was almost 31 so my kids are only in their teens. Janelle has three kids already. I was no sooner ready to be a mom in my early 20's than I was ready to climb Mt. Everest.
I don't know Janelle well, but I understand she's a great mom. Maybe I'll see you at the family reunion in August. Also, do you remember the Winnie the Pooh I gave you at a family reunion held on our birthday when you were small? I wasn't even married yet, I'm thinking I must've been about 25 or 26; you were probably 2 or 3.
Anyway, birthday happenings have begun already. I went yesterday and got my birthday pedicure (purple toes) and went out for sushi with my husband, mom and kids. Today I'm going for coffee and my favorite doughnut at the Black Diamond bakery with a girlfriend. Tonight my hubby is taking me for dinner and to see the movie "Bridesmaids."
Right now I'm going to Weight Watchers online to track my cake eating events for the day.
