By noon, the craziness and mayhem have subsided and the stores are like ghost towns; my favorite time. The cashiers have been replaced by those lucky enough to draw the winning straws for sleeping in and guess what? Things are still on sale, in fact they will be until Christmas Eve. What's the rush?
But I don't go to the stores on black friday to shop for Christmas. I do all my Christmas shopping online. I don't like crowds, especially crowds whipped into a frenzy of illusory deals. I go to the store on black friday after 12:00 to get candy for our annual gingerbread house making.
So hip, hip hooray for stores that didn't cave and open until this morning. Boo to stores who think they are actually making a profit by opening on Thanksgiving day. I feel sorry for folks who feel they must leave their families to shop when we have technology sources that probably matches any deal you can find in a store.
And you may say boo to me because you like the madness of black friday. I just want to know if it's safe to go out yet.
