Next week, however, my kids have Monday off and I'm not sure why; I think it's a celebration for the end of the semester or a day to give the teachers a chance to finalize grading. They called it an "optional" day. I'm assuming the "optional" is for teachers, not students. Because if it was for students, I'd be driving my kids to school.
Then they have a scheduled late arrival day next week too. I'm not sure if that will remain since everything was pushed out a week due to the stormy weather. The optional day was supposed to be today and was pushed out until next week. I guess we'll see.
I just don't know how families where both parents work manage it. I suppose I could find creative ways to get my kids to school if I were working. Probably I'd have a later shift than my husband's 5:00am shift. The girls and I would be fighting over the hot water. I'd be nagging at them to hurry up because I wouldn't have time to drive them to school. So hats off to those of you who have two working parents or are single parents; the school system is definitely not working in your favor.
But this is Monday morning at it's best; everyone is gone, it is quiet, there are no pressing issues besides laundry and I can wholly concentrate on whatever it is I need to get done.
The only thing that would make it better is if it were Friday, so I could sleep in tomorrow.
