We had a some great family time at the beach after the car show. Sunday night we drove into Aberdeen to watch the new Harry Potter movie. Then the weather cleared up and we were able to spend two days on the beach playing, flying kites and watching our lab drink sea water and get sick (goes in one end and out the other at the same time).
We were supposed to come home Wednesday morning, but it was kind of rainy Tuesday night which put a damper on another campfire. We were going to get up in the morning and hit the donut shop which was closed on Monday and Tuesday (what is it about really good donut shops at the beach? And ice cream? And Taffy?). But since we really couldn't have a fire Tuesday night my husband decided a donut wasn't a good enough reason to camp another night.
There also comes this time in your children's lives when they aren't the reason to do or not do something. I remember when we had to really plan our travel time and make sure we didn't travel when the kids were too tired. But now that they are teens and stay up later than my husband and I do, it doesn't matter when we travel. They are good at entertaining themselves and don't cry when they get too tired (occasionally they whine, but sarcasm usually makes them stop it in a huff).
My youngest really wanted to sleep in her own bed because she had been gone the whole week before. She must've really wanted to go home if a donut wasn't good enough to keep her there.
It was good to get home, although I do like being gone because there is nothing I can do about all of the nagging stuff I have to do at home. Come to think about it, a donut would have been a good enough reason for me.
